This generates a level for Doom 1 that tries to use RROCK01, which is a Doom 2-only flat. This crashes Eternity to the console immediately due to a map loading error (due to the way that it loads textures progressively, it cannot replace textures at run-time). ZDoom can load this map, but it will complain heavily and display a checkerboard due to the missing texture, which looks quite terrible.

Are you even using the latest doom.lua file from the "Minor Updates Thread" in General discussion? I thought I ironed out all instances of Doom2 textures/floors being used in Doom1...

ahaha whoops, I must've gotten an older one. The thread is a bit unorganized so it's a bit difficult to find which ones are more recent. x.x

I haven't looked at Chris's fixes yet, but I have fixed this particular problem (RROCK01 being used in a DOOM 1 material) in svn.

I have another doom.lua update but I have to test it first ;)

Edit: Found it and fixed it too.
